‘Tis the season to be thankful!
Or, at least be more expressive of our thanks to those around us that we have neglected to thank enough the other 364 days of the year. This year (as in years past) there are so many things to be thankful for! I suspect I could think of hundreds of things to express my thanks towards, but I will not bog you down with the minor details of my appreciation.
So here is what I am thankful for:
My wife and kids. Yes perhaps the most common expression on Thanksgiving, but I have felt that since having a wife and kids, it is the most meaningful thing in my life. So I plan to say it every Thanksgiving from now until forever.
I am thankful for my health and the health of my family. This is a big one as almost daily in my conversations with patients I realize that health is too often taken for granted. The challenging stories I hear first hand or that I read are reason enough to feel blessed.
I am thankful for amazing friends and family. I hold all of these relationships close. For those that know me and that are friends and family of mine, know that you are important to me.
I am thankful to have a job and to be surrounded by great people in the office. I still wake up excited to work. We have an amazing staff that I enjoy every day and I still feel like there is no other profession that I would enjoy more.
Ok those are the big 4. I should however chip in a few tidbits of thanks for the smaller things.
I am thankful for Benadryl and Tylenol when my kids are sick, coughing and cannot sleep so that I cannot sleep either. To me, this has been as relevant as the discovery of Penicillin.
I am thankful for mid-afternoon coffee.
I am thankful for the 2012 Notre Dame Football team. ND is very relevant and gives me great fun for 3-4 hours each Saturday.
I am thankful for apex locators and nickel-titanium and more recently CBCT technology. If you know my job, then you will understand my gratitude towards these products.
I am thankful for DVD players in the car. If you have kids then you get it.
And lastly I am thankful for vitamin enriched Eggo waffles. Seriously though…making breakfast on the weekends for 3 kids is so much easier now.
I hope that you all have so many things to be thankful for this year. I hope that you all have an amazing holiday season with your family and friends. Let us all take the time to reflect on the year and find those people and things that we hold to be the most important and tell them.
We hope that you all are safe in your travels.
Let us know what you are thankful for …
